Callous Comics

    It may be just me, but I find something very steampunk about the typewriters I learned to type with. Not the fancy electric ones with the metal ball that had all the letters on it, but the manual gear-and-lever ones where you had to put some oomph into it to get your letters clearly typed.
    But I'm of the generation that was there when electric typewriters were quickly becoming the norm. When my parents got one I would play with the old one, just typing along until you hear that little bell ring to signify that you were approaching your pre-determined margin. Then with a little flick of the wrist you'd pull a lever to return you to the leftmost margin and bring you down the page to start a new line. It's pretty ingenious, if you ask me.
